Grilled Lemon Sardines

(4 servings)

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

Found these absolutely incredible, fresh sardines in the neighborhood Citarella and had to buy them. When I was travelling through Spain, I ate these garlicky sardines in oil that were great. I decided to make these sardines as a tapas option really quickly as it was almost lunch time. Easy to make with high nutrition value.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cleaned fresh sardines
  • 1 lemon
  • Chopped parsley
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt (Flaky sea salt if you have it)
  • Freshly ground pepper

Method:

Wash and pat dry the sardines. Season generously with the salt & pepper. Fire up the grill or heat about two tablespoon olive oil on a frying pan at high heat. Place the sardines in and fry/grill 5 minutes on each side. You want the sardines to have a slight char. Sprinkle lightly with smoked paprika as you fry on either side. Squeeze a dash of lemon juice and serve with the freshly chopped parsley.
