Guavacolada Cocktail

(1 serving)

Preparation Time: 2 minutes

Total Time: 2 minutes

Decided to get creative with this cocktail recipe. I had some of the Goiabada from my previous recipe leftover. I took a teaspoon of it and dissolved it in 2 tablespoons of water to make guava juice. Alternately if you have guava juice from the store you can use that. The yuzu juice gives the drink a needed kick otherwise it will be too sweet.

Kokum Twist

(1 Serving)

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Kokum or Garcinia Indica is a fruit bearing tree that has numerous culinary uses. The outer cover of the fruit is dried in the sun and then used in various recipes in India. Kokum yields a peculiar tangy, sour flavor and a blackish red color. It is often used as a souring agent as an alternative to tamarind or mango powder in curries in dishes from Goa and the Konkan region in southern India. Kokum squash or concentrate can also be used to prepare a sweet juice if you are in the mood for a mocktail. Dried kokum is readily available in most Indian stores or online. I had a lot of this dried kokum stored in my refrigerator and decided to get creative with a cocktail recipe that came out brilliant. Do try it out!

Flirtibird Cocktail

(1 serving)

Preparation Time: 2 minutes

I had this drink for the first time at my favorite speak easy bar in NYC – Angel’s Share and completely fell in love with it. I regularly drag my friends to this downtown bar to get the cocktail. One of the times I was seated at the bar and could have a conversation with the bartender. He told me the key ingredients to this cocktail – Shochu, yuzu and agave nectar. At Angel’s share they also finish the drink off with a shiso leaf. It’s tough to find so my recipe here doesn’t have one. This is my take on the Flirtibird!

Spicy Aloe Vera Margarita

Preparation Time: 7 minutes

Aloe Vera is well known for its cosmetic benefits and is used regularly in skin lotions, cosmetics and for minor burns. In general it’s great for skin and can be consumed directly too. It grows wild in tropical climates and requires very little care which makes it a great addition to your home or backyard! I bought fresh Aloe Vera cactus from the market and decided to use it in a Margarita recipe.

The Godfather (Rye Negroni)

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

The traditional Italian classic – Negroni is made with Gin. However I’m not a big Gin fan, & I still had my bottle of Angel rye whisky that I wanted to use. So decided to try a variation on this classic cocktail. I would say this Negroni version is a close cousin to the ‘Manhattan’ cocktail and really simple and easy to make. You can whip this up really quick when you have friends over and look like a professional bartender doing his/her thing 😉
